By today's standards, it can be called a miracle if a band stays together for five years and records two albums, but what would you call it when a band has been recording best selling albums for twenty years? Blue Rodeo recently released Small Miracles, the band's 11th studio recording. The thirteen track album once again features the storied songwriting talents of Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor.
Blue Rodeo is one of the most successful and well known contemporary Canadian bands; their albums and DVD have sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. In a review of a show on the band's current tour, The Dallas Morning News wrote that "Toronto's Blue Rodeo... has tons of shimmering hooks and harmonies in songs such as 'What Am I Doing Here?,' its brilliant set-starter... But the band focused on the roots side of roots-rock, firing up tunes with hard-core pedal steel and honky-tonk piano... Blue Rodeo is proof that great twangy music often hails from the frozen tundra."
Opening the show is Nova Scotia-born Luke Doucet, who has released several well regarded solo albums and also performed with artists such as Sarah McLachlan and Chantal Kreviazuk.
